Nicki is co-founder of Stirchley Art Room and has been a FOSL Committee member since 2022. Here she reflects on the role Stirchley Library has played for her over the years…
How are you involved with Friends of Stirchley Library?
I have been on the committee of FoSL since November 2022, and have known about their fantastic work supporting the library since they started. FoSL were, alongside many other local organisations, incredibly supportive to Stirchley Art Room when we were establishing ourselves a few years ago. I want to help celebrate everything that our wonderful local library does!
What does the library mean to you?
Stirchley Library has always been my library, from finding a quiet space for revising for my A level exams to bringing my own children to story tots when they were tiny. More recently it has been a workplace again, as the workshops and art club sessions I run with Sarah as Stirchley Art Room have predominantly been hosted here. The staff and community have been so welcoming to us and we feel as though we are home when we are in the library. I know this is the case for many others in our community too.
Can you recommend a good read?
It may be a cliche but i’m going to go for Persuasion, by Jane Austen – a great one to return to again and again! Comfort reading at it’s finest.
